Camping at the Rock Camp or self-catering at the Camp Flintstone
Extraordinarily camping at the Rock Camp or self-catering at the Camp Flintstone.
The Camp Flintstone at Rooiklip is our self-catering Camp. The guests are living in houses, prepare their meals in the big Lapa and sit on a big round table. The same as the Rock Camp is Camp Flintstone build directly on the rocks only with stones from the local area.
A fully equiped kitchen area and 12V solar power is available.
Hot water would be prepared on the same procedure as early family Flintstone, with fire wood and a donkie!
An alternative way of camping: On top of a huge ancient rock there is a breathtaking campsite, carefully integrated into the natural surroundings.
We facilitate hot and cold showers, modern toilets and a fireplace. It accommodates 2-6 persons and there is space for 1-2 cars.
Rooiklip is located 1035m above sealevel in the center of the escarpment with very little vegetation. Since there are no big trees, shade is provided by huge rocks only. The early morning sun warms the site, and there is more than sufficient shade in the afternoon.
The swmimming pool at the main house is open for all our guests.
Free public WiFi access is available in the pool and bar area.
The Farm Rooiklip measures 7050 ha and is 1.035 m above sea level at the foot of the Gamsberg mountain (2.347m). To reach us
from Windhoek (180 km) the C26 via Gamsberg-Pass to Walvis Bay
from Walvis Bay/Swakopmund (210/240 km) the C14 through the Namib, through the Kuiseb-Pass, the C26 to Windhoek

Enjoy the big pool with a cool drink at the bar, relax in a special place and assimilate the striking nature of the Namib perimeter, the oldest desert on earth. For example, let the smallest and trifling in nature astonish you, like our reach bird population as from an ostrich to a tiny honeysuckle. Perhaps you can cross the way of a desert inguana. After the first rain you can experience the frogs came alive as well as our insects, like the big moths with a rolled-up trunk, who wants to share your good South-African redwine at sundowner with you.
On marked trails you can enjoy the scenery individually and at your very own pace. You can walk over rock formations in areas up to 1.8 billion years old – the time life itself was born on our planet and allow time, space and silence to get to you. Search for the Rooiklip-diamonds (clear quarts crystals). Due to the unchanging climate of the Southwest of Africa a unique flora has developed during millions of years. Sit down at the trunk of the huge aloe or the quiver tree and look at the moringa, commiphora, sterculia etc.
To have a closer lock at the walking trails on Rooiklip, please refer to the downloads. Maps and printed Flyers are also available at the reception.
With an off-road vehicle you can get an overall impression of the Namib-border landscape. The drive takes you across undulating hills, through steep gorges and wild, rocky areas displaying weird geological formations. Through dry bush area with vegetation islands you move into desert region. The experienced driver will guide you in your game watching and explain the survival strategies applied in the desert border country.
We charge N$ 250 p/p at minimum 4 persons.
